— ••Artist Statement ••—

My process involves utilizing my nearby surroundings, and capturing nature’s expressions through every piece I create; whether that is through utilizing local forage clay, ashes from dying trees, or dyes made from native plants. In nature’s absence, I explore visually my dreams of plants I have come across in my field botany endeavors, often plants from different biomes coexisting with one another.

Most of my work is an attempt to understand the world around me, and the world inside of me. It is through my art that I am able to process the hidden parts of myself, as they are exposed on paper. The subjects in my work resemble me but I do not relate to these beings. These are past, present, or future selves that care to express and free themselves from pain or suffering within the modern world.  As I retreat further into nature, I capture the metamorphosis of my spirit and the freedom from the absolute. In my process, I seek to restore my connection to our natural environment and to reclaim my ancestral roots in an attempt to fulfill my soul.  Hoping to inspire others to do the same.
